This is excellent value if you get it at the offer price of around 7GBP (tip: install Version 6 from a magazine cover, register it and wait for the v7 offer to come through!), but has a few too many quirks to get a full five star rating. The Save logic is a bit weird, as with most programs (i.e. all others I have ever used) if you 'Save as..' then you have the new file in your window to work with and the 'original' version stays unmodified on disk. With Ashampoo, you still have the original version in front of you and have to dig out the newly saved version - plus, if you do a plain ordinary Save you'll get various daft messages about how "an original with that name already exists!" That said, it does the job and the ability to batch process can be a godsend when trying to get a gallery of different images into a consistent size. A shame the file renaming doesn't seem to have a straightforward Find/change. Very cheap though, and I use it in preference to Photoshop Elements. |
