Among minor new features and a couple of bugfixes, this release comes with better support for Windows Vista, the ability to use Mozilla as embedded Browser on Windows and some improvements to the embedded Browser on Mac OS X. RSSOwl - RSS, RDF, Atom Newsreader 1.2.3	Nov 26, 2006	Major Update	The RSSOwl development team is happy to announce the new version 1.2.3 of RSSOwl. You can now subscribe to feeds with RSSOwl by passing the url of the feed as argument to the executing launcher (e.g. rssowl.exe on windows). This works very well with the new Firefox 2 where RSSOwl will be visible in the list of newsreaders to select when opening a feed in Firefox. In case you are already subscribed to the feed, it will display its content. We continued to improve the security from the embedded browser on windows by disabling JavaScript when displaying the contents of a news. As soon as the Browser is navigating to a real website, JavaScript is being enabled again (based on your Internet Explorer settings ). This change is protecting RSSOwl from malicious JavaScript coming from a Feed so we highly recommend to update to the latest RSSOwl. Information about news that are marked as read is now persisted at a certain interval while the application is running. This should finally fix the issue where this information got lost on an unclean shutdown. The SWT library was updated to the most recent Version 3.2.1. RSSOwl - RSS, RDF, Atom Newsreader 1.2.2	Aug 27, 2006	Major Update	The RSSOwl development team is happy to announce a fresh new version of RSSOwl. After four months of work, version 1.2.2 is now available for download. This version comes with some enhancements, a lot of bugfixes and improved security from the embedded browser on windows. The integrated Feed-Validator was removed due to lacking support for RDF and Atom formats. The new Validator allows to enter the URL of the Newsfeed and will forward to the well-known W3C Feed-Validator that supports all major formats and namespaces. On Windows, the security of the embedded Browser was improved by making use of the Local Machine Zone Lockdown which forces local content to operate in the more secure Internet Zone. The Feed-Search is now recognizing a lot more results as valid Feeds with fixing a Bug in the URL-processing. Special thanks to Milan Simonovic for reporting this issue. Settings are now backup'ed and restored in case a previous shutdown failed to store them correctly. This should fix issues, where all settings were lost. The SWT library was updated to the most recent Version 3.2. Thanks to Vardan Movsisyan for providing a translation to Armenian. RSSOwl - RSS, RDF, Atom Newsreader 1.2.1	Apr 23, 2006	Major Update	The RSSOwl development team is happy to announce a fresh new version of RSSOwl. After five months of work, version 1.2.1 is now available for download. The version number might sound minor, but the changes are totally major! On the usability side it is now possible to reorder Tabs in the Tabfolder via Drag and Drop and opening the next unread Message is working, even if no Feed is displayed at all. Based on the current selected Favorite, RSSOwl is automatically opening the next Favorite from there that contains unread News. With this feature it is possible to have the Favorites-Tree closed all the time to save some space, while still being able to navigate to the next unread News. A new command "Open" was added to the contextual menu on a Category in the Favorites Tree. It will open all Favorites that are a direct children of the Category into seperate Tabs in the Tabfolder. Annoyed by RSSOwl forgetting about which Favorites have unread News after restart? This was finally fixed. Any Favorite with unread News will keep this information also between a restart. RSSOwl is now using the native colors of the platform it is running on and supports the standard themes on windows as well. These colors make RSSOwl better fit into the look and feel of the running operating system. A lot of work went into the Mac version of RSSOwl, which is now shipped as universal binary, supporting both PowerPC and Intel. Some improvements include using the application menu for "About" and "Preferences", support for the "Toggle Toolbar" Button top-right in the application window and a special flat look that make RSSOwl look more like a native Mac application.
