You just line your stereo / turntable into the mic jack on your system and press record.The sound editor just opens automatically when you press stop and you can immediately "save as" mp3.

It is great for those that like to make ringtones for their phone like i was doing for someone I work with. It is great for sound clips, a friend of mine could fade the music in and out, and if you got the right equipment you could record your own music if you wnted to with all the add-ons with just the basic package.
