Soundbase was created to fill a gap in the large amount of free and commercial mp3 players. We do not pretend to have the ultimate mp3 or audio solution, but it will most likely fit somewhere into your mp3 playing experience. As a player, as a tag editor or as an organizer. It will always give you a quick way of doing common tasks. Give it a try!

Using the windows standard

Soundbase uses the Microsoft® DirectShow® architecture. DirectShow provides high-quality capture and playback of multimedia streams. It supports a wide variety of formats, including MPEG Audio Layer-3 (MP3), OGG Vorbis (OGG), Monkey Audio (APE), and FLAC sound files. It automatically detects and uses audio acceleration hardware when available, but also supports systems without acceleration hardware.

You might need to read the help section on installing more sophisticated formats (ape, flac, ogg) to enable playback for those files. The help section provides you with links to free directshow filters and will give you information on how to best install the different pack.

We also added the option to use BASS Audio audio drivers, they can be installed from inside Soundbase.

Is there more?

Of course there is more, you can skin soundbase, organize your music to different locations, edit tag information, search, filter, create playlists, there is a unique history display and Soundbase doesn't use any registry entries but stores all in one ini file, it is completelly anonymous, it can run from any location with limited user access rights, and much more. And we of course never stop thinking of better ways and better functionality, so stay tuned for more updates.

Soundbase functionality

Soundbase is compatible with windows XP, Vista and Win 7, both 32bit and 64bit versions.

So what might be the reasons why you like soundbase, well first of all Soundbase is very fast, secondly it is the only program I know of that can easily load 100.000s of songs without you getting very frustrated. If that is not enough reason then maybe one of the following might be:

1. aac, mp3, mp4, ogg, ape, flac, aac and wma playback;
2. aac, mp3, mp4, ogg, ape, flac, aac and wma tag editor;
3. soundbase playback is gapless and full 32bit floatingpoint;
4. full freedb access to download tag and album information;
5. radio playback with a selection of all kinds of webradio stations;
6. lyrics download for complete albums at once or only the playing song;
7. album art download from various locations with auto selection of 10 images;
8. language caption integration allowing you to change any displayed text;
9. skinengine, color and caption engine to adjust the looks to your liking;
10. organiser to move or copy your songs to a tag based folder structure;
11. miniplayer and a taskbar player access to the main playerbuttons;
12. burn, rip and convert songs to/from mp3/mp4/flac/ape/wma;
13. VSTi support to use some of worlds finest DSP support;
14. or change many other options that impact soundbase.
